Morning Glories! (Asagao ya)

waking not
from the dreamscape
-- morning glories!
sue
the moon held still
in a garden stream
soen
birds of passage
awkwardly
perambulate
soen
asking whither
her footsteps lead
sue
overworked
the ship's ovens
too few in number
sue
perhaps it wasn't dusk
but rain clouds
soen
half read
Genji shines out
from its special case
soen
a cat peeks under
the heated throw
sue
with each change
in the breeze
the call of a bell
sue
away from Kyoto
love also ages
soen
a famed bloom
from her sleeve
a hint of aloeswood
sue
wicker and wisteria
ever entwined
soen

 

朝がはや

朝がほや見たらぬ夢のさめどころ すえ
月はながさず庭の遣水 素園
わたり鳥むつかしいほど出ありきて 素園
こえかけられてどちへ行人 すえ
数足らぬ舟の竈のいそがしき すえ
暮たではないこれは雨雲 素園
読さしてひかる源氏も箱の内 素園
火燵のすそをのぞくから猫 すえ
ひとつづつかぜからちがふ鐘の声 すえ
都はなれて恋も古びる 素園
花の名は袖からもれて伽羅の音 すえ
むすびもながく枝折戸の藤 素園
