Hal Cantwell — I live in Oklahoma — one of the most ecologically varied and meteorologically exciting places in the United States. The two major parts of my life revolve around this environment. One part is working for the state environmental agency investigating and cleaning up abandoned hazardous waste sites. The other part is as a landscape photographer. Some time ago, I started writing short form poetry including haiku and it was a natural creative progression to combine the words and pictures. The wide range of landscapes, remarkable light and surprises brought by the wildly changeable weather here are a source of ideas and inspiration for both images and words.
