misty dawn...
overnight maple leaves
cover the lawn

sharp outline of a boy
carrying a stick

spiked on the spire
of an ancient castle
the harvest moon

the bouncing soft ball
doesn’t make a sound

from the volcano
a sudden explosion
quakes the ground

at first glimpse of you
I'm swirling Arabian mocha

on a cloud-nine day
they renew their vows
before kith and kin

across the marshland
eco warriors link arms

just before dusk
mosquitoes hovering
at the water’s edge

residents enjoy sunshine
in the sheltered garden

for the unveiling
the Princess Royal wears
a bright yellow jacket

handprints of the stars
adorn the wall of fame

their beautiful home
of fifty years
demolished in an hour

by our son’s log fire
he quietly slips away

far-away moon,
the stormy night
longer than ever

aliens discuss at length
the human race

I stumble into
a parallel universe

a paratrooper lands
on the lambing shed

white cherry blossom
lines the boulevard
in sculptured drifts

as usual for the wren
a great nest
