HAIKU

Richard Krawiec

New Year's morn
on the gravel driveway
loud leaf-scuttle

  flooding rain
the white safari hat
on the black mailman

in the cool gallery
only the wooden railings
covered with quilts

  end of summer
the streets littered
with dead cicadas

first frost
all the iron benches
empty
