RENKU

Shisan Renku: No Single Star

very many things
it calls to mind
this cherry blossom

basho

lace curtains flap
on the washing line

joan

fuel oil stench,
a ferry pushes out
as waving hands recede

takenoko

* * * *

vomit-flecked
the drunkard’s smile

stuart

highlighting
two wine glasses
sun streams through the window

joan

pricked by thorns
she retrieves her broken locket

keith

* * * *

the vandergraaf generator
lifts
his only hair

matthew

an anvil cloud
looms above the rooftops

takenoko

stag beetles
scurry over cobbles,
bomber’s moon

matthew

* * * *

Wagner’s Ring
SatNav going nowhere

fred

an owl cries
across the blackened marsh
reeds stiffen

joan

through the skylight…
no single star

stuart
