HAIKU

Mark Teaford

morning's stiffness
greets the old cat
. . . too

  the cat watches
intently focused
on my sit-ups

kinkajou eyeshine
blinks and vanishes
leaving me in the dark

  quiet dignity
above all else
a giraffe browsing

aerodynamics.
the car's smooth lines
sweep the moth to safety
