Sakuo Nakamura was born c.1930. He is now living in retirement at Setagaya-ku, Tokyo, Japan. His hobbies are painting, haiku, and billiards.

Of himself, he writes: "Everyday I receive English haiku of Issa, then translate it to Japanese. To make sure my image, I paint a picture and send it to David Lanoue's website: http://www.xula.edu/cat/issa."
