on the sandbar . . .
my footprints	winter afternoon –
going the other way	black swans
	drink themselves

watching clouds
in the flower-shop window	spring thaw –
chrysanthemums	finding last year’s
	mittens

painting bamboo –
trying to imagine
the wind

Sandra Simpson lives in Tauranga, New Zealand. Her haiku have been published in journals including Kokako and Bravado (both NZ), The Heron's Nest (USA), Stylus (Australia) and Haiku Presence (UK).
