The art and haiku featured here are from the book, The Healing Spirit of Haiku, by David Rosen and Joel Weishaus. The artwork by Arthur Okamura illustrates the haiku written by Rosen and Weishaus.

The artist, Arthur Okamura, was born in Long Beach, California. He attended the Art Institute of Chicago. His books include texts on Basho and Issa with Robert Bly and Oxherding with Joel Weishaus. His artwork has won many prizes and is in over thirty public collections, including the San Francisco Museum of Art, The Whitney Museum, and the Smithsonian Museum. He is Professor Emeritus at the California college of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, California where he has taught for thirty-one years.
