Myron Lysenko: Haiku

hot summer night
the still stars
moving summer flood
  the back garden
  moves to the front
seaside forest
i lie in my tent
thinking of fish and chips heatwave ~
  after heavy watering
  the plant falls over
together again
in the shed
spade and shovel

Myron Lysenko is an Australian performance poet. He has been writing, performing, publishing, editing and conducting poetry workshops since 1980.

He began writing free-form narrative poems about his experiences of growing up in Australia, including coming to terms with his Ukrainian name and background.

He has published approximately two and three quarter books, or 4: depending on how you look at it.

He also was a founding editor (with Kevin Brophy) of the lively independent literary magazing Going Down Swinging from 1980 to 1994.

His webpage is Poetry of Myron Lysenko. A more complete biography can be found at the Booked Out Speakers Agency website.
