Mary King: Haiku

incoming tide
-- what siren songs
are the gulls singing?	perhaps a poet
	-- this little cat
	watching the rain
talk of war -
she weaves daisies
into a chain	fifty candles
	my footprints erased
	by the incoming tide
all souls day---
a puppy sniffs
a broken egg

Mary King lives in Marblehead, Massachusetts and works as a trust accountant in Boston. When she's not balancing numbers, Ms. King enjoys writing short fiction. She's currently working on a short story in journal form (which could become a novel ).
