Constantin
Severin was born in Baia de Aram_ Romania on 8 February 1952.
He
studied at the Faculty of Industrial Chemistry at the Polytechnic Institute
of
Ia_i from 1972-77, then worked as a chemical engineer at the Suceava
Cellulose and Paper Factory from 1977-91.
He
has worked as a journalist since October 1991, writing for România
liber_, Flac_ra (1994-1996), "Monitorul de Suceava" (1996-2000)
and "Obiectiv Vocea Sucevei." He contributed to BBC
Radio and Radio Free Europe between 1992 and 1996.
A member of the Writers Union of Romania, he is a journalist, writer
and art critic, publishing nearly 30 art reviews and articles. first exhibition
of his paintings "Roumanie richesse et passion", shown
at Saint Laurent du Pont, Isère 7 September 2003. Work exhibited
by the Nahvision Art Gallery of Stuttgart. Theorist of archetypal
expressionism, a new movement in conceptual art, and of post literature,
a contemporary
cultural concept inspired by the work of Gilles Deleuze.
Founder of "Continent" magazine for East-West cultural dialogue
(4 editions in Romanian, French and English, 1999.) Editor in chief of
the cultural magazine "The New Continent" University of
Suceava, (4 editions in Romanian, French and English, 2000.)
Invited to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg by the Honorary President,
Leni Fischer in September 1999
Awarded the Prize for Haiku Poetry by the daily newspaper "The Daily
Yomiuri", Tokyo, 1996
Awarded the Prize for Cultural Journalism by the Romanian Ministry of
Culture in 1998
Awarded the Prize for Cultural Journalism by the district and city
of Suceava, 2001
