kazoku chiru-made-no ie nari kagerou aru

until my family
scatters, this is our home...
mayflies emerging

tsune-ni ashi arai tsuzukete amenbou

washing its hands
of everything all the time
the water strider

tsubute nage seki shite hotaru-no yoru tsuzuku

i skip a stone,
and cough, and back into
the night of the fireflies

kan katsugu mimi-ni hotaru-no kikoe-tari

i hear the fireflies
with the ear i'd pressed
to the coffin i carried

same-no ha-no nukete-wa haeru mangetsuka

a shark's teeth
grow back if they are lost, under
the fullest moon

tsukami-taru hiyoko shito suru rakkanaka

picking up a chick
it pees on me, beneath
the falling blooms

hagewashi-no ichimen-ni tsuta mebuki ori

bald eagle
covering the whole face
ivy in shoot

zou-no hikagami-mo o-mo shiwa hikobayuru

behind the elephant's
knees, it's tail too, wrinkles!
tree stump in bud
