without the silent rocks
water could not
make its music

Gloria B. Yates, Australia

an'ya: The form isn't why I chose this one, rather was the idea. This haiku ties the rocks, the water, and the music uniquely together. My suggestions would be something like this:

silent rocks-
without them the water
makes no music

This author has captured juxtaposition in the silence of rocks and the music of water, which has nothing directly to do with the statue in the photo, thereby giving us that hidden something needed to successfully enhance a haiga.

playing by a pond
no one hears
but the fish

Lynn Harris, Australia

soji: I like this poem best because of the humor, the implication that the novice flute player may have been sent out to the garden to practice.
