Karma Tenzing Wangchuk
Karma Tenzing Wangchuk (formerly Dennis H. Dutton)
lives in Tucson, Arizona USA. Tenzing is a lay Buddhist monk who
started writing haiku in 1998 after a 34-year hiatus. Since then
several hundred of his haiku have been published in the United States,
England, Canada, Australia, Japan and elsewhere.Tenzing has published
three chapbooks, including 90 Frogs (1999; reprinted in
2002 by bottle rockets press). With poet and scholar Thomas J. Fitzsimmons,
Tenzing also coauthored Zia: Four New Mexico Linked-Haiku Sequences (Santa
Fe: Katydid Books, 2000). He has also written linked-verse with many
poets including Marlene Mountain, Janice Bostok, Jane Reichhold,
Charles Trumbull, Noor Singh Khalsa, Maria Steyn, William J. Higginson,
Penny Harter, and The Pointed Radishes (Gary Steinberg, Captain).
Tenzing's work (haiku, haibun, haiga and tanka) is in several anthologies,
including the recent Poets Against the War, edited by Sam
Hamill (New York: Thunder's Mouth Press/Nation Books, 2003).
